Why do people believe in ghosts?

Psychologists that study some religious peoples beliefs of the paranormal, say that some religions think that if they admit that ghosts are real, they won’t experience it in person and they will be less scared when they come across one. There is research that says when a person you love has passed away, you mostly see a ghost because you feel lonely and are desperate to find someone to talk and/or hangout with. There are people that have taken pictures of someone or something, then they claim that there is a ghost in their picture which leads them to believe in ghosts.

In Taiwan, there is a belief  called “Ghost Month”, and if you see a ghost in this time they say bad things will happen to you. A study has shown that people avoid dangerous behaviors that could cause death during Ghost Month. These include drowning, therefore they avoid bodies of water so they then have fewer deaths during this time.
